There are reasons that DUI charges in Arizona are so severe. Police officers make it a priority in Arizona to hunt down drunk drivers. The following numbers might be a little added incentive to take a cab or an Uber after having a few drinks with friends. Keep reading below for a few interesting DUI statistics for the state of Arizona.

  • In 2013, there were 31,891 total DUI arrests. In 2014, there were 23,420. That’s over 50,000 in just over two years.
  • The average Blood Alcohol Concentration of DUI arrests in 2014 was .152.
  • In addition to DUIs resulting from alcohol consumption, there were 3,303 DUI drug arrests in 2014, and 4,519 in 2013.
  • Out of the DUI arrests in 2014, almost 7,000 were Extreme DUI and 3,644 were Aggravated DUI arrests.
  • In 2014, there were 1,464 “under 21” DUI arrests.
  • In 2014, there were 199 fatal accidents that involved at least one driver with a BAC at or above .08%.
